  • No discounts for siblings or for 2nd teams
  • NB: Basketball Victoria charges an extra annual registration fee to cover competition administration, affiliation and insurance costs. This fee of $34 (up to 17 years) or $48 (18 years and above) may be charged again for Winter 2026 Registration and will cover the registered player for a year from their registration date.
  • Basketball Australia has introduced a mandatory annual Game Development levy of $5.50 (inc gst) per player. This fee will be added to your total at the payment section of the registration. More information on BA Game Development levy can be found here.
  • Venue entry fees are no longer being charged, instead this cost has been incorporated into weekly competition fees and are now covered by your Player registration fee.

LATE REGISTRATIONS

All late registrations enquiries must be sent to [email protected]

PLEASE NOTE: players who do not register and pay BY THE DUE DATE will not be included in the initial formation of teams.

Players registering after the closing date will only be placed where team spots are available, if any.

There will be a $50 late entry fee for all registrations after the close of the registration period on Monday 23rd February, 2026 to cover administration costs incurred.

ALLOCATION REQUESTS

During the registration process, players are invited to nominate up to three friends that they would like to be in a team with. Age group coordinators take these requests into consideration whilst making teams and will endeavour to place players with at least one person requested, however there are no guarantees that these requests will be met.

Players with specific requests regarding allocations into teams which impact your decision to register or not should contact the Club BEFORE registering AND before the close of registrations via email on [email protected].  Every player who registers during the registration period is GUARANTEED an offer of a team placement.

Please note that Solway Basketball will, as far as possible, form teams of 8 players, as this is how our fees are costed.  If a team wishes to play with fewer than 8 players, team members may be asked to contribute additional funds to cover the costs of their team (unless there are no registered players available to join that team / fill remaining spots on the team).

More information on the team selection process can be found here

UNIFORMS
Please ensure that you have your uniform organised by Saturday 15th March, 2026.  Any uniforms ordered after this date may not arrive in time for the start of the season.  Without a Solway singlet top, your player will not be able to play. Uniforms can be ordered at any time, year round, from our website: www.solwaybasketball.com/uniforms

PLEASE NOTE:  THERE ARE NO SECOND-HAND UNIFORMS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE THROUGH THE CLUB DUE TO EXTREMELY LOW STOCK.

TRAINING

Solway Club training will commence at the beginning of Term 2, 2026 once all Training venues re-open. Training times and days for each team are set according to the coach’s availability. Venues include Solway Primary School, Ashwood High School, Parkhill Primary School, St Michael’s Primary School (Ashburton), Essex Heights Primary School, Stonnington Stadium, APARC and Waverley Basketball Stadium.

COACHES AND TEAM MANAGERS

The Club is seeking additional coaches and team managers for our upcoming season. Please register your interest on the registration form or contact your Age Group Co-ordinator and/or email the Club.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF TEAMS FOR NEXT SEASON

Teams for the Winter 2026 season will be posted on the Solway Basketball Club’s website on the evening of Sunday 29th March 2026 – After the last grand final is played (approximately 9pm).

The coach, team manager and training details for each team will be available if allocated.

Following team announcements, the team manager will be issued a team contact list and will connect with the team to provide game and training details.

We have the right to change team allocations up until the completion of grading if/as required

REFUNDS

Club registration fees are set as low as possible to ensure that participation in basketball is affordable for families when compared with other junior sports.

Each basketball season commences within a few weeks of the closing date for registrations. Once registrations close teams are finalised. Once teams are finalised the Club makes financial commitments towards the booking of training venues, allocation into competitions at Waverley and, for some teams, coaches. These commitments must be made before the commencement of each season. Given this, the Club appreciates your acknowledgement that refunds of Club fees post the close of registrations can only be considered in writing, under exceptional circumstances and with the approval of the Club President.

As all completed registrations incur PlayHQ fees to the club, all refunds will incur a $25 admin fee to cover the costs incurred in processing refunds.

The Club is unable to facilitate refunds of Basketball Victoria fees.

INSURANCE

As indicated above, the Basketball Victoria fees include coverage for all non-Medicare costs associated with injury occurring to players, coaches and team managers at Solway’s training venues or during games.

Please ensure your injury is recorded by the venue at the time when the injury occurred.

For more information on insurance coverage, including how to make a claim, please refer to www.vinsurancegroup.com/basketball
